The following video was featured on X.com yesterday. It’s a sad video of  a man locking himself in a bathroom with a teenage girl.

Rather than an outpouring of empathy and compassion for the victim.

“That had to be terrifying!”

“I hope that she is okay.”

“Can you imagine..?”

“Any word on how the victim is doing?”

“Oh, that poor child….”

Instead……….

Many thousands of responses poured in saying simply: “Not a drag queen.” or “Not a trans person.

Increasingly, on social media and offline as well….we are focused on the perpetrator’s motives and back story rather than the health and well-being of victims of violence and abuse.

This is a teenage girl!!!! Who exactly are we becoming when that isn’t the leading concern and expressed sentiment?

What about the child who was victimized? We are allowing ourselves to become desensitized to her pain and frightening experience.  That’s a choice. In my opinion, a very dangerous and inhumane choice.

I spend a lot of time online soaking in funny animal videos.  I love animals. I come from an animal-loving family. I can confidently say that a dog would have shown more concern for this victim than many people.

Meanwhile, human beings are only concerned with “winning”. Forget the victims.

Kind of like sociopaths and psychopaths.

WE will not allow victims of violence and abuse to be erased.  WE will continue to amplify the voices of those who are talked over or ignored. Children matter. Children are important.  Keeping them safe is the duty of all good people.

Applause and appreciation to the men in the video who helped to take this predator down.

Warm and healing thoughts to this child victim.
