Sanctuary spaces are violated. They are speaking up when sex education feels like it pushes beyond what they are ready for. They are forfeiting games rather than playing against teams that have boys on the roster.
These girls are standing up for themselves.
In doing so, they are teaching themselves—and the world—that their feelings matter. Too.
They are learning that they can depend on themselves, that their boundaries deserve to be honored. They are discovering that they can stand together and support one another without apology.
This is wisdom.
This is the early practice of self-respect, collective protection, and unshakable dignity. There is power in sisterhood. There is strength in girls choosing to honor their instincts.
That is something to be proud of. That is something we must protect.
And let us also celebrate this: many boys are joining them in this fight. They are walking out too, and raising their voices alongside their sisters. These boys are showing courage, integrity, and loyalty—learning that real strength means protecting dignity, not violating it.
