The word “inclusion” has been used to center males in girls sports and that has been dangerous for girls. What about girls? Don’t they matter? Are they not important? What about their dreams? Their goals? Their health? Their safety? Their dignity? Their consent?

What happened to Payton McNabb matters. On September 1, 2022, during a high school volleyball match in North Carolina, 17-year-old Payton McNabb was allegedly struck in the head and neck by a ball spiked by a male athlete on the opposing team. The impact left her unconscious for over 30 seconds and resulted in a traumatic brain injury, partial paralysis on her right side, vision problems, and ongoing cognitive issues.
