A truth we must say out loud—for the sake of the children.
There are few betrayals more devastating than this:
An institution claiming to protect souls…
but refusing to protect children’s bodies.
For years, the Catholic Church has shielded itself behind tradition and theology—while Survivors of child sexual abuse are left with broken spirits, broken trust, and broken lives.
Even now, in 2025, the Catholic Church is still fighting against mandatory reporting laws in countries around the world.
Not because abuse isn’t happening.
But because they believe what is said during confession must stay secret—even if a child is being raped.
Even if the confessor is an active predator.
Even if a child is in immediate danger.
Let that sink in.
When priests confess to hearing about abuse but feel bound to silence, it creates a sacred loophole for abusers.
A hiding place for harm.
A doctrine of delay and denial.
In states and nations where lawmakers try to change this, the Church often lobbies against them.
This is not faith.
This is fear dressed up as reverence.
This is power protecting itself.
And the cost?
Children’s lives.
Children’s safety.
Children’s ability to ever trust again.
At RosasChildren, we believe:
🕊️ No belief system should place secrecy above safety.
🕊️ No child should have to compete with an adult’s right to confess.
🕊️ No institution should have the right to cover up harm under the banner of holiness.
If your theology can’t make room to protect children, it’s time to re-evaluate your theology.
We are not anti-faith.
We are not anti-prayer.
We are pro-protection.
Pro-truth.
Pro-child.
Children should never be sacrificed at the altar of adult shame.
We will not stay silent about this.
Not when the silence has already cost so many children their peace, their safety, and their voices.
Children are not secrets to be kept.
They are souls to be protected.
